How to Adjust Audio Delay in VLC Media Player


 Sometimes while playing the video, the voice in the video appears early or delayed. Due to which Audio and Video do not match each other. It means that Audio Sync is not done and we have to fix Audio Delay. If this happens continuously then it takes away the fun of watching the video.

Sometimes, the audio recovers on its own after a few minutes. Sometimes it just never gets better. Audio is usually lagging behind by only a few milliseconds but sometimes, they are a few seconds or less. Due to which you do not enjoy watching the video. In such a situation, VLC Media Player is a very good option to fix the audio.

For this, in which you are watching the video, VLC Media Player should be installed in Smartphone or Computer.

To Sync Audio in Computer...

  • First of all, make sure that the audio in your video is playing fast or slow.
  • If your audio needs to be slowed down, press the 'K' button on your keyboard. Conversely, if the audio is playing faster, press the 'J' button on the keyboard.
  • As soon as you press the button, you will see numbers for a few seconds on the right side of the player. eg, 50 ms or -50 ms


  • Once the key is pressed, the audio will speed up or slow down for 50 milliseconds. If you keep pressing it, the number of milliseconds will increase continuously.
  • Keep speeding up or slowing down the Audio Delay until you hear Video and Audio together. Listen carefully to the video and audio to be sure.


To Sync Audio in Android...

If you run VLC Player on Android, you'll need to access the on-screen interface to fix the audio delay.
  • First of all you have to open VLC Player. And the video has to be played.
  • If On-Screen Controls aren't visible, tap the screen.
  • Tap on the given three Dot (Option).


  • Tap on the seventh button from the top.

  • Press the Plus (+) or Minus (-) button to increase or decrease the Audio Delay. 

 To save the audio delay for this video, you need to tap on ☰ Menu>Settings. Then click on the Under video of Extra Setting. Check or uncheck the Save Audio Delay option.


 Now, the Audio Delay settings will be saved. This applies only to the video for which you have set. With this you will not have to set it again and again. To remove it, go to this option again.
